On the Passing of Midge Miller
The board and staff of the Wisconsin Women’s Council offer their condolences to the family of Midge Miller. Ms. Miller was a leading political activist and a powerful advocate for women and economic justice, in Wisconsin and nationally. At a time when few women served as social and political leaders, Ms. Miller was a state legislator (1971-1985), founding member of the Wisconsin Women's Council and the National Women’s Political Caucus, a longtime member of the Wisconsin Women’s Network, an assistant dean at the University of Wisconsin College of Letters and Sciences, program director for the YWCA and a member of the Wisconsin delegation to the National Women’s Conference. A truly remarkable woman, she remained an active and influential voice, role model, mentor and treasured colleague to so many throughout her life. Ms. Miller passed away on April 17, 2009 at the age of 86. For more on Ms. Miller’s life and legacy, see the Capitol Times tores: "Midge Miller, state legislator and political dynamo, dies at 86" and Feingold: 'Midge Miller defined Wisconsin progressivism'. |
