Congratulations!

to Barbara Bitters, Wisconsin Department of Public Instructions, honored by the White House is one of 12 "Champions of Change" for leading the effort to recruit and retain girls and women in science, technology, engineering and math - the STEM fields. Barbara was honored at a program held at the White House on December 9th.

The White House press provides that these leaders "have each taken great strides to reduce the barriers that drive many girls and women to turn away from high-paying, highly rewarding careers as the nation’s top innovators."

A long-time friend and colleage of the Women's Council, Barbara is the state leader of the Wisconsin Girl's Collaborative Project  and the co-leader of the Wisconsin STEM Equity Pipeline Project, Barbara Bitters has developed strategies and activities that support the success of girls, women and other under-represented groups to build STEM skills and to explore STEM careers.
